Generally speaking your body produces all the necessary digestive enzymes it needs. Some digestive enzymes found in supplements are destroyed by stomach acide before they can be useful.

However, some particular digestive enzymes such as lactase can breakdown lactose in milk and Beano (alpha-galactosidase) which can help to breakdown complex sugar found in things like beans and cereal grains.

Generally speaking a mixture of digestive enzymes in a supplement frequently contain some, if not many, enzymes that are not likely beneficial. And sometimes these products are high in insoluble fibre from plant material too. However, specific enzymes such as lactase and Beano that have a specific clinically proven purpose and effect can be extremely helpful.
