I've found that the pills help with digestion but not the constipation issue. When I boil fresh artichoke leaves for 30 min. cool and strain it and drink it as a tea it really helps. It works better than any laxative with no harmful effects. I mix the tea which I make in small quantities and put in the fridge with peppermint and it tastes a whole lot better. I also freeze the leaves after cutting them off the artichoke. It's cheaper overall than buying the extract or the pills.
