While researching this strange itchy rash on my elbow,I stumbled upon a site that seems to indicate the rash I have may be the first symptom to appear in celiac disease.
Dermatitis Herpetiformis
It says:The symptoms of dermatitis herpetiformis may range from mild to severe. They may sometimes be accompanied by the symptoms of celiac disease such as abdominal pain and unexplained tiredness. In fact, dermatitis herpetiformis may be the first sign of celiac disease in some people.
Gluten intolerance,which I know some of the folks that have come here have,would explain my symptoms.
...some other common gluten allergy symptoms in adults are, headaches, depression, irritability, mouth ulcers, muscle cramps and joint pain.
Aside from the mouth ulcers,this has been my life for the last 8 months.
While reading more ,most of the symptoms I have been having lately fit this scenario also.
I've been rolling words like cronic fatigue syndrome around wondering if thats why I'm so tired and have so many headaches but then again..
If it weren't for this rash that at first I figured was just dry skin,but itched like crazy,I don't think I would have considered celiac.I was told I had IBS.
So I am thinking now I need to go to the doctors and get tested for gluten intolerance.
