Sure, I get that too; usually in the afternoon at work where I can't pass gas.
It is spasms that create gas pockets and I like to think of them as expanding the stretch of your intestines to far and that is where the pain comes from- but it is all spasms. Pep caps and tea will help. Passing gas and moving around after eating works well too. Something like Bentyl relieves the spasms.
