Banana have a lot of soluble fiber and resistant starch which acts like soluble fiber. As a banana ripens the starch is converted to sugar such as fructose. Soluble fiber is good for managing IBS symptoms.

The best tasting banana with a high amount of soluble fiber and resistant starch are semi ripe bananas that are still firm i.e. yellow with some green but no brown spots. You may find this brief article of interest.
