Hey guys. There isn't really an appropriate board for this discussion, so I put it here. I'll try to be as clear as possible, because this isn't something people normally talk about
My IBS right now is under control, and I find the worst part of it is spending time in the bathroom. I usually spend around 30 minutes when I first get up, and sometimes have more BMs later in the day.
Right now, I sit there, reading or distracting myself, and sort of just wait for it to happen. Usually I'll have an urge, which might go and take a few minutes to come back. This has been very stressful when I have a busy morning or have to rush for time
Anyway, is there a way to hasten the process? I'm wondering about two things in particular.
The first is posture. I've read that humans naturally should be in a squatting position when they have a BM, and the way people sit normally doesn't facilitate clearing your bowels out efficiently and completely.
Also, anxiety plays a large role for me. Has anybody here used breathing techniques or anything else to help calm them and get their bowels moving?
Thanks for your responses, and try to be mature
