Unless something has changed, sugar is not an IBS-trigger food. However, artificial sweeteners and honey are triggers.

I, too, have dairy allergies and coincidentally I can't have sugar because of blood sugar problems.

It sounds as though you are trying to diagnose yourself. Are you sure you have allergies or are you on this board to explore the possibility of having IBS because some of the IBS trigger foods are similar to your "allergies"?

It's best to get a diagnosis of IBS from your doctor. In the meantime, if you feel better when you stay away from dairy and sugar, then it's probably best not to keep trying them in different forms.

By the way, as the other posters mentioned, Basmati rice is fantastic for IBS. I only use organic white Basmati rice. The other varieties do not agree with me as well as Basmati.
