Hi Everyone!

Still sort of new to the site but finding so much information helpful. I've recently purchased Heather's "Eating for IBS" and enjoyed reading it. It was so relieving to finally COMPLETELY understand IBS and how it affects me personally. Now I understand why certain foods bother me sometimes, but not others. (Like eating insoluble fiber on an empty stomach, etc.)

For this information Heather, I am totally and forever grateful.
I had an appointment yesterday with my Naturopathic doctor and showed her your book and shared my experience. She was thrilled that I shared the information with her and said that there were bits and pieces that she had picked up over the years from her patients (apparently she sees quite a few with IBS) that is also found in your book, but she was happy to find it all in one place. She immediately wrote down the name of your book to purchase it and photocopied your IBS cheat sheet. She was quite eager to share it with her other patients.
Anyways, she has had me on a pretty specific diet for the last couple weeks and after reading your book, I almalgamated her diet with your information. (Ie: when having fruit as a snack on an empty stomach, having a banana or unsweetened applesauce INSTEAD of pears or grapes or berries.)

My next area of concern is that I got results back from her regarding the "ELISA" blood test I had done. This test showed that I had food high intolerances to yeast, gluten, wheat AND dairy!!! I hate to make such a bold statement, but I'm only 25 years old and feel like I've been handed a death sentence. (Again, not to use that term lightly and not to offend anyone!)

As you can imagine, I am feeling completely overwhelmed. While trying to choke down some cream of rice cereal for breakfast this morning, I started crying in fact! I feel VERY overwhelmed with these NEW challenges I'm about to face and am wondering if anyone else out there has issues like these and can offer support, advice, recipes or recipe books, or guidance as to "safe" foods for IBS that meet these criteria. (Good luck trying to find bread that is yeast, gluten and wheat free.) Oh.... also can't have rye, barley, oats, spelt or kamut. UGH!!

Heather (and all other sufferers), please HELP!!

Thank you!
