I have tried eating avocados for over a year with no success. They give me D, gas and bloating. It took me a long time to figure out why. For a while I thought it was the fat content. Recently I learned they contain a sugar alchol which acts like other sugar alcohols such as sorbitol and manitol producing D and/or gas & bloating in some individuals (see section 6 on polyols in reference below). Avocados are one of the fruits where individual tolerances may differ.
