Thrush occurs when yeast has infected the milk ducts and yes, it CAN be passed on to the baby during nursing. It can also start with the baby (most common) and get passed to the mother. This is why it's so hard to treat, because Mom and baby can pass it back and forth. It's also why BOTH Mom and baby need to be treated together.
