Decrease in effectiveness.       02/07/10 08:45 AM Edit Reply Quote PMartin Reged: 08/05/08 Posts: 140 Loc: Niagara Region When I first started taking fiber (psyllium), I noticed an improvement the very next day. As advertised, it bulked up my stool and subsequently decreased my BM's (got down to 2 a day from 3 or 4). This lasted for a few weeks but now things are reverting back. My stools are loose and frequency of BM's is up. I don't know what to make of this. Is this normal...has my system just developed a tolerance? I've had similar experiences with other things I tried, primarily Questran/Cholestyramine that worked for a week and then it was like my system found a way around it. -------------------- IBS-D.
