I had posted here in mid-December about my grandson Nicholas and "Heavers" (can't yet say Heather) peppermint tea. Perhaps some of you will get a chuckle out of this outcome!

My grandson Nicholas will not turn three until the end of March. He is smart as a whip nonetheless... and sometimes too smart for his own britches! When Nicholas had the flu in the fall season and was having a difficult time recovering after weeks of conservative care, I sent my daughter-in-law a few of Heather's peppermint teabags and a few small candy canes. I suggested that she brew the tea and drape the candy cane over the side of the mug, telling Nicholas that he could have the candy cane once he finished drinking the tea. He was forever asking for more of "Heavers" tea after that, and we all thought it was really the candy cane that he wanted.

I guess we were wrong! Nicholas got a few small candy canes in his Christmas stocking on Christmas morning, among other things. My son (Nicholas's Daddy) unwrapped one of the candy canes for his son to eat after eating breakfast Christmas morning. Nicholas immately ran to his mother and begged for some of "Heaverrrrs" tea" He wouldn't eat the candy cane without the mug of tea!

The question remains as to whether Nicholas had a tummy ache from all the rich food eaten the night before and KNEW how that could be fixed (warm peppermint tea), or if he simply associates candy canes and peppermint tea as the total package.

Too funny!
