Sounds like you're having a really hard time. I had really bad heartburn for a couple years and it has finally abated, thanks to a couple things.

First of all, for immediate relief, try licorce root tea - it works fantastic!! Ginger chews can also provide immediate, albeit temporary, relief.

Secondly, I've been taking a supplement to soothe my stomach lining - it contains Licorce root, marshmallow root, slippery elm, and aloe vera. It didn't work right away, but after about 3 weeks of taking it twice a day, my tummy felt a million times better.

Third, my naturopathic doctor suspected I had low stomach acid rather than too much, which can cause the same symptoms. So she has me take 1 teaspoon of lemon juice with a little warm water 15-30 minutes before each meal. You might try it. If you feel more acidy, then you can stop taking it, but if you feel better after eating, then you can continue.

I still get heartburn/reflux if I eat tomatoes, chocolate, onions, garlic, or peppermint, but it is so much better!! I use to have it 24/7 and it made me miserable.

One more thing - I also found out that I have gastroparesis, which is delayed stomach emptying. That can cause the symptoms you're describing, so if it persists, you may want to get tested.

I hope this helps. Please don't give up! You will feel better!! You really will. We all go through periods were our symptoms are so bad we can't imagine living with it the rest of our lives. That's when I remind myself that I had some really good days in the past and I will again.
