I started Align 2 1/2 weeks ago. First couple of days I felt awful, but knew it would be temporary and didn't care what it took if it was going to work. Week 2 was fantastic. Only had one minor problem when I ate a chocolate chip cookie. I started 1/2 tsp of acacia fiber in with my oatmeal in the morning. Previously I started with 1/2 tsp twice a day for months and it made me feel horrible!
This week, I have started to eat 2 packets of oatmeal in the morning as the week before, but added the acacia and followed by a small organic fruit smoothie - just strawberries (4-6 of them) and a 1/2 cup of blueberries with Simply Orange juice. No problems! We were out of town this weekend and ate out a lot. I decided to not panic about what I was eating and just eat. No problems! Typically I eat oatmeal and a smoothie in the morning, a cup or so of organic, low-fat vanilla yogurt (trader joes) at 10am, a turkey sub with lettuce and sprouts and mayo for lunch and then whatever for supper - tator tot casserole, chicken chimichungas, cajun chicken sandwiches, etc have been lately. All I make with healthier substitutes though - organic meats, sliced potatoes from the garden instead of the processed tator tots, etc. (although this is the same as I ate before - we tend to eat a lot of organics and not a lot of processed foods).
I dont know if it's the Align or the combination of acacia or partial following of Heather's diet or what, but I feel fantastic! I still am going every morning and the consistency is more of thick toothpaste (sorry - TMI) and this morning was even more formed. I suspect that with time I may be able to up the acacia and have more formed stools. I have started to make it an overflowing tsp with no problems as of yet. Still have urgency after being awake 15 minutes or so in the morning, but not full D and just once and I'm done. Before it was several times, as soon as I got to work, all morning, after lunch sometimes and huge attacks eating fruit with an empty stomach or any saucy stuff.
Just thought I'd post my thoughts. I just want to remind everyone to just keep trying everything. I cringe when I see posts about "do not try this! this does not work at all!" because it very well might be your saving grace. I avoided dairy like the plague, ate fiber of both kinds, followed everything to the T and it wasnt working for me. I will keep updating - I dont want to get my hopes up yet! So far so good though!
