Hi Rebecca,

The first thing you should eat on an empty stomach should always be soluble fiber. I would make sure you have something to coat your gut before you put anything, including protein in your system. Even though chicken is not a trigger for IBS, it's always safer, and pretty easy to eat maybe a rice cake or some other source of soluble fiber first. Some are actually okay if they eat chicken on an empty stomach. If you wanted to test it out, make sure you eat a very small amount of chicken on an empty stomach and see how you feel.
