refugee from failed IBS diets

IBS is my earliest pain memory! of course undiagnosed and misdiagnosed - "She just wants attention, Mrs. R." "When was the last time you were seen in mental health?" "I'm assigning you to a stress management class." "We all have some discomfort and fatigue, Mrs. M. Take FiberCon for the rest of your life." "Here's a Rx for (19,000th different drug) Just like many othere here . . . What I know I am intolerant to for other reasons (also have migraines, fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue, allergies, arthritis, interstitial cystitis and GERD with mood disorder residue now exhibiting as ADD/nervousness, in other words I can't concentrate very well except hyperconcentration on one thing at a time and transitions are difficult) So, I am gluten, gliaden, soy, dairy, meat, egg, fish, sugars, and many other plant foods intolerant for various reasons. Now here comes my specific question area: on my quest for good enough health to be a blessing instead of a drag and embarrassment to my family and communities I eventually last summer came to employ the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and then a vegan similar plan strong on proper food combining technique. Those had dramatic improvements, like losing 15 pounds of pure bloat in less than two weeks and immediate decrease in migraines and toxic, watery feeling. But IBS continued, although improved or was it just the rest made it seem better? I steered off on my own, thinking I now knew what to do. I honed in on alkalizing foods and there's where it all went kablooie. I was having lots of whole lemon, stopped juicing and started eating oranges, grapefruit, pears, dates, figs, dr apricots, prunes dr olives and pineapple with tons of fresh lettuce, kale, spinach, escarole, frisee and parsley with one little banana for breakfast. Lunch is a ground almond muffin (no flour or rising ingr.)and more greens. Dinner a huge salad of those same greens with one carrot, lots of celery, cucumber, tomato, lima beans, lemon juice and lemon peel, avocado and perhaps a half a winter squash and/or frenched green beans. As one can imagine, I have been in varying degrees of agony since I started that most recent project. The question part: before I went starch-free, rice and millet(the grains I was down to exclusive to all others)were causing me lots of trouble and there was so much relief instantly on cutting out all starches. I am interested in trying some rice and corn meal and perhaps millet, but I'm afraid. Both toxic feeling bloating and severe migraine could result. What do you think? Also, because I have chronic fatigue already and the latest diet escapade has me weak from my system trying to deal and the habit plus headache and zombiness without it part, I have not been able to give up my morning two - three cups of coffee. Can I succeed in ameliorating IBS using carrots, squash, avocado, pear and banana as my soluble fiber sources, or should I try to reintroduce rice, millet and cornmeal? Would coconut flour (the oil is removed) be soluble fiber? Would having soluble fiber with coffee reduce its harmful effects? Thank you. mm
