Selenium for IBS?

I have IBS that is mostly pain, nausea, and mild constipation. For the last week, I've been noticing very regular bowel movements, no straining, no feeling like I didn't empty completely. I am trying to figure out what is different--no change in my eating habits, nothing new, except for one thing: my chiropractor is having me try a selenium supplement to help my allergies. It's a low enough dose not to be dangerous, around 100mcg, taken in liquid form. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever supplemented with selenium and noticed a similar effect? I can't find much helpful in an internet search.
