Bentyl is dicyclomine and is similar. I take it when needed. It does help relieve cramps and pain, especially when taken early or when I get knotted up. To me they are like pep caps only stronger (my GI doc told me to try pep caps before every meal and if they didn't work to go to bentyl. I just take it occasionally). The side effects are dizziness and RLS (jimmy legs) for me, but when on it years ago it also gave me C. Now the restlessness is all I get and not always immediately.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
