Okay, I did a search, but didn't find a good answer to my question. I have iron deficient anemia (am good on B12, and still producing iron, but have had super heavy periods lately). I was prescribed ferrous sulfate liquid, which I am supposed to take for 8 weeks.
I am trying to eat iron-rich foods so that I can hopefully get off the supplement sooner. I have done some reading, and nettle tea and molasses are both highly recommended on vegan food boards, and I wondered if anyone had had luck using either of those? I already eat lots of beans, which I tolerate with no side effects after three years on a modified, mostly vegan EFI diet. Cooked greens are also in there.
I am IBS primarily C, but have been super stable for most of the past year, with some C, but no attacks. The doc really wanted to prescribe a laxative with the supplement, and I was able to talk her out of it, but I can feel a difference already. I'm more backed up, though not stopped up completely yet, and I'm only one week in at a third of my final dose (two week stup up to the full dose for another 4). I'm so peeved that this has come along when I was doing so well! Any advice at all would be most welcome and appreciated.
