Hi guys!

It has been a LONG time since I've posted here...since the last time I was active on the boards, I have been through both inpatient and outpatient treatment for a very serious eating disorder, and am now in recovery.

For my health and well-being, I follow a structured meal plan, which was given to me by my nutritionist...I also have Type 1 diabetes and was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis, which I developed as a result of the eating disorder. The meal plan I have is tailored to meet my caloric and nutritional needs, as well as to address these two health issues.

However, the IBS and GERD, from which I still suffer, are a little trickier to treat through my diet...my plan calls for lots of fruits and veggies, protein, and healthy fats, and a pretty moderate amount of carbohydrates. I have been trying to fill my "exchanges" (a certain amount of protein, carbohydrates, and fat I must eat at each meal and snack) with things I know will not upset my tummy, such as peeled soft mangoes and bananas for my fruit, rice cheese and soymilk for my dairy, avocado for my fat, cooked squash or spinach for my vegetables, and sweet potatoes, rice or millet for my starch.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with following the EFI diet while managing diabetes, or while in recovery from an eating disorder...or for that matter, with any other special dietary restrictions or considerations that may complicate matters a bit.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It's good to be back...

Thanks,
