Hey there
I had my gallbladder removed in february. It was an emergency surgery, I had a stone stuck in the duct and couldn't eat anything without having extreme pain. I mean extreme. I was on morphine, oxycodone and diludid( used for terminally ill cancer patients)
i can tell you that for me having my gallbladder removed was the only way and yes it messed up my system. I had cronic d for at least two weeks and went to the hospital for more exrays and blood work and even a cat scan to see if something else was wrong but found out that there was nothing wrong!!!

Anyway yes it messed with my IbS d I haven't been "right" since last summer. Slippery Elm tablets worked to control the d and this diet is really helping with the ibs. It took over six weeks for me to recover from the surgery but if you have it it may not be as long. the more attacks you have the worse your recovery.

i read about a new method to remove gallstones by blasting them with lasers but this is fairly new to the scene and not sure who would do it. I also heard about a drug that can melt the stones. again ask a docter. i haven't got any names exactly but one of my medical books does mention these treatments.

If you end up having it removed...good luck and be patient it takes a while to recover. It's been three months for me and I'm only better because of this web site. The doc couldn't help
