It depends on the source of the maltodextrin. For instance, I switched to acacia fiber because Benefiber (which used to work for me like a charm) changed their formula, which now includes maltodextrin, derived from wheat. Which makes it totally unacceptable, now, as an SFS (soluble fiber supplement) by many IBS sites. But, not all maltodextrin is derived from wheat... much of it is made from rice, corn, or potato starch.

I'd say you need to find out what type of maltodextrin is in there, and can you tolerate it? does it help? I would be interested to know if it works well for you.
