Usually tricyclic ADs are good for D and migraines. I'm currently on 10 mg of amitriptyline for IBS-D, lupus pains. I was told to double it if I have a migraine. For IBS, it can take about a month before you start seeing results -- so hang in there for a couple more weeks if you can! It's okay to use Imodium while you're trying to get stable. It also works well as a preventive.

I haven't heard of anyone having more D while on nortriptyline. YOu might want to try a search on this board but also in the Living Room. There have been a lot of discussions about tricylic ADs in the past and maybe you'll find something useful there.
