Hey, I had much of the same going on............(and here it was at one of the best medical centers in SoCal) except that, unlike you, I don't freak at needles. Was awake the entire time.........yes, somewhat in la-la land but not enough and when they hit me with the "air" I screamed and said I was "out of there".......took 3 to hold me down to finish the procedure. One was built like our new Governor----Arnie...and then there was the doc and a nurse. I know I gave them a run for their money and the doc upon follow up informed me that I WOULD, by all means have a "general" next time (3-5 years from now)........See Jen....I told you to be certain about how they were going to sedate you. I know that since developing the IBS I have a low pain tolerance. I used to have an extremely high tolerance...not now. Even my dentist has to "pull out the big guns" as he calls it to get me numb enough to do the most simple of procedures. I'm still wondering why this happens to some of us (can't find any studies) since it's not just visceral pain but hyper-sensitivity to ALL pain stimuli, anywhere in the body. Anyway.............I'm so VERY sorry you had to go thru that. Did you have nachos afterwards too? I craved drinkable yogurt, later learning it was that I was trying to get the good flora back into my intestinal tract. Then too, I stayed in bed for about 2 days afterwards. It had taken it's toll.
To the rest of you..........don't be scared, there are some of us that are exceptions to the rule. Kandee
