My GI told me to avoid lactose and to take lactaid when I couldn't. That didn't work at all. The lactaid didn't even slow down the reaction I have to dairy. I also tried drinking protein drinks that were lactose free but derived their protein from milk. Made me very sick. Allergy tests show I am sensitive to daily as a whole. I don't know if it triggers my IBS or if I'm just allergic to it but I know I can't tolerate dairy in any form. Thank God for rice and almond alternatives (because I can't have soy either).
