Hi, Marinana! Potlucks are always safe because you can always eat just what you bring, nothing else. I never eat anything at a party because I don't want to ask what's in it. I fill up on ice water only. It's just safer, easier, and no one notices as long as I have something in my hand. Eating out isn't so tough because there's so much I don't like, such as Chinese food or Mexican food, and I wouldn't go near Italian! I usually try to order fresh fish with rice, and I eat the rice first (soluble fiber ya know!), or I feel pretty safe with chicken. One thing I do is I always split my meal in half; my husband takes one half, I take the other -- we never order two separate meals. I never order dessert, and I drink a lot of water. Oh, and I eat the bread -- as long as it's white -- and without butter. It's not difficult, maybe a little boring, but I'm enjoying myself and feeling very virtuous inside. More importantly, I leave with a happy tummy. You can do it! Bev.
