I've just finished a 10 course o'same...but I saw it as step one of a two part treatment. Because now you have to replace the bacteria in your gut, which have mostly been killed off. Any change at all to the chemistry of the gut is a shock to your digestive system.
The xifaxan left me bloat free for the first several days, but full of gas and liquid at the end. I'm IBS-C.
I started BioK + during the last two days of the antibiotics, and gave myself 2 weeks on it. I have had a lot of gas and bloating, but no pain, unlike before. I realize that this is due to the changes going on in my gut, and though it is REALLY frustrating to be bloated once more, I have been told over and over again that it will take weeks and months to settle down.
I am trying to eat lightly, and have cut out fiber for now, which has really helped. For the C I take Miralax at night, and I like the stuff because it is not a stimulant, but acts more like a stool softener.
