Hey everyone, I just wanted to say thank you to all of your posts and advice over this past year. I haven't posted a lot but I have been reading and a lot of what you have said, has helped me with changing my diet, etc. The beginning of June last year was when I was diagnosed with IBS-A. It was really rough at first. I was probably having at least 2 episodes a week of major d. My stomach was as hard as a rock and in constant pain. I forgot what it felt like to NOT be in pain anymore. Not without a lot of difficulty, I have now completely cut out all dairy and caffeine from my diet. Which helps me tremendously! Now it's just finding a way to manage when I do have an episode. Which isn't too often anymore... I have had two in the last 4 months and before then, can't remember. I take digestive enzymes when I know I'm going to eat something that may be a bit difficult for me to digest. I have also just recently started taking Beano.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you to all of you. You really have no idea what you do for so many people. It's so nice to know that I'm not alone.... people in "real life" don't talk about these things. My one question, "What do you take to help your stomach after you have had a major episode of d?" Last time, it occurred in church... I thought I was going to pass out, sweating to the point of soaking my clothes, skin was feeling prickly, feeling like I needed to rip off my clothes and then that I was going to pass out. I was by myself and made it to the washroom with the help of someone, thankfully! I came home right away and then slept for 4 hours after I got home... exhausted. That happens a lot after an attack with me.

Anyway, your advice on what to do during or immediately following an attack is very much welcomed. And I did want to tell people that my life is so much better now, improved since I have been following the IBS diet. It's not 100% but I think that in large part is due to the fact that I sometimes slack in being hypervigilant about what I eat, and I don't ALWAYS eat the way I should (low fat is the hardest for me now).

Anyway, sorry for the long post! lol.
