Are whole grains considered insoluble fiber?

If so, how can I safely eat them? I know I need to balance out my IF with SF, and I'm doing that pretty well so far (based on my reduced pain and getting closer to regularity). So how can I do this with whole grains? If I wanted to make a sandwich with whole wheat bread, I would have to have extra SF to compensate, right? But that would be too much grain for one meal.

So how can I incorporate whole grains? Or should I just not worry about it and stick to safe breads.
Any thoughts?
