Why is cranberry juice safe?

I am totally puzzled why cranberry juice is safe for IBS people. It has to be one of the most acidic juices around and common sense would therefore dictate that it isn't safe.

It took me several years, and quite a few bladder infections, before I got up the courage to try cranberry juice, which Heather had said was safe. I made sure to buy a pure cranberry juice from the healthfood store not something junky like Ocean Spray which contains other ingredients.

I poured a tiny amount into a glass and filled it up the rest of the way with water. To my utter amazement it didn't bother me at all! I've been drinking diluted pure cranberry juice ever since and have never had a problem. Yet I can't tolerate any other fruit juice.

I am just so perplexed as what it is about cranberry juice that makes it IBS safe while other juices are not. As I've said, cranberry juice has to be one of the most acidic juices around.

Does anyone have an explanation for this?
