It is hard to give up the things we love to eat. I've been on this diet for 2 1/2 months. For me, the hard thing to give up was cheese. I thought that coffee would be hard, but I substituted peppermint tea for the times I would usually drink coffee, and that helped. I think, for me, the act of sitting down with a hot mug was more comforting than what was in the mug. Does that make sense?

Anyway, I can honestly say that I lost the cravings for some foods the longer I went without them. Try to find some safe foods that you really love and can have when a craving for a trigger food hits. You will feel much better when you eliminate the trigger foods from your diet. Because of your insulin resistance, you will probably need to reintroduce veggies quickly. Look at the list of safe foods on this website and check it against the diet the doctor gave you. You should be able to find some foods that you can start with, and branch out from there.
