Hello Heather, I know you are busy, but I have a few questions. I will try to keep the background short! About 1 year ago, I was doing research on possible reasons why my heart palpatates, and I came up with Magnesium and a possible shortage. I went to my General Practicioner (GP) with this information and he tested my Magnesium level. He said it was low, and put me on Slow-Mag twice a day and said to come back in 7 days and be tested again. ( This was also right about the time my IBS went full blown). Of course, diarrhea is a very common side effect of a Magnesium supplement, and had made my already bad condition worse. I stayed on it for the full 7 days (as uncomfortable as it was), and went back to be tested again. The labs came back that I was still low and I told my GP of the "D" side effect and he told me to stop taking the supplement and to eat a balanced diet and that should do it. Here we are 1 year later and I am following up with my Magnesium level with my GP and was just told that my labs came back that I am still low and they want to put me back on a supplement. I have been on your diet since October, and only in the past 90 days I have had no diarrhea /constipation, with occasional spasms/gas/bloating (usually when I splurge and eat much needed chocolate!) and am afraid to try the supplement again since I seem to have everything calm and balanced. So this brings me to my questions.
1) What are some IBS-safe foods high in Magnesium and portions I could try to incorporate into my diet instead of a supplement. 2) Is this a common thing with IBS sufferers?
I would really appreciate your help with this. Thank you SharShar
