Same here,, even at 17, there is alot of stress in my life,, school, family, etc,,, and lots of anxiety too, most commonly anxiety ABOUT IBS. Since learning about Heather and this site, I've been working harder at being a bit more laid back and definitely trying not to stress over anything anymore, and it has helped. I won't say that the stress and anxiety is completely gone, but I can handle it better.

My IBS developed I think because of stress in the first place, and also being hit by several stomach bugs back to back. I have been lactose intollerent for about 4 years now, but I have only had IBS for a bit over a year, though I didn't know it until 3 months ago when I was hit by another stomach bug and decided to look up the symptoms I have been having for a year, because it was finally driving me crazy, and making me very angry and scared (haha which I later learned was making it even worse, being so stressed about it!)

Its so weird not being able to eat half the things I used to eat, but its nice to know that my diet is DEFINITELY alot healthier than it used to be, AND that I'm not suffering nearly as much I feel like I have my life back. For a couple of months, I shut myself up at home, not going out if I could avoid it, barely eating and sleeping because I was afraid of getting sick again. But now, I go out at least twice a week, usually more, I go to friends' houses again, I even went to an 8 hour dance a few weeks ago! That was a HUUUUUGE accomplishment! I still get anxious about leaving the house for too long, but if I bring enough snacks along, and my peppermint tea, I usually get over that initial fear pretty easily

I know I'm probably quite a bit off topic now lol, but I want to thank everyone on the boards for all the advice you give, and thank you, Heather, for being such a lifesaver! You're awesome!!
