I took calcium citrate with magnesium (333mg to 167mg I think, basically a 2:1 ratio) and I did fine with it. I did notice that it didn't help with my D in that I was still going as often, but it didn't aggravate the D either. I think the balance is pretty safe for an A.
I recently switched to the caltrate (calcium carbonate with vitamin D) because I ran out of the other stuff and wanted to try to reduce frequency of BMs by using calcium instead of Imodium (or using less Imodium anyway). I found it does help my D.
