Well after over a year of horrible IBS-D things are finally starting to calm down. For me I found I had to eliminate all wheat products. Oatmeal was killing me, Cream of wheat, white bread, sour dough bread etc. was also problematic.
So I've been living off of plain white rice, cooked carrots (soft, soft, soft), bananas, water, decaf teas, herbal teas, and rice krispie treats. I found Uncle Ben's makes "Ready rice" in orange microwavable packages that travelled great to work.
I've also gotten back on Elavil, which for me is two-fold as I've got bladder issues to contend with and I take the Elavil at nite (40mg) because it makes me sleepy.
So far, I've backed off the Immodium. And I've managed to eat beef Teriaki, some greasy Lo-mein and 1 pork dumpling all in one nite without incident. And I mean nothing, no gas, no rumbly tummy...nothing. Would I eat like this every nite?....oh gosh, no. But it was nice to have a little diet normalcy.
Today, I even indulged in some Dove chocolates..milk and dark...yummmm.
Anyways, I just thought I'd post this to give others some hope. It wasn't easy sticking to the "gravel" diet (my own term for it) but I would rather feel better day to day than feel lousy all the time. I'm hoping to add in more foods with more nutritional value and see how it goes from there. No thanks to my gastro...
