defining stable       02/08/07 05:35 AM Edit Reply Quote atomic rose Reged: 06/01/04 Posts: 7013 Loc: Maine (IBS-A stable since July '05!) I think "stable" can mean different things for people. I'm definitely NOT symptom-free. I considered myself stable when I got to a point where I was only having one or two bad days a month, and the rest of the time, I was able to live my life pretty much normally - and stayed that way for a few months. I've now been stable for 1 1/2 years. I should also point out that stability isn't this magic state that you reach and then life goes back to how it was before. I still follow the IBS diet, for the most part. I still take my medication. I understand that if I stop those things, I'm going to be just as sick and miserable as I was before (and that was pretty darn sick!). I noticed improvements after maybe 5 or 6 months on the diet. Or maybe it was 4 or 5. Hard for me to remember, but you get the idea - it took a while to see even the slightest improvement. But so worth it! Print     Remind Me     Notify Moderator
