I am in Canada so the names of some meds may be different. I was told in the summer when I went for my colonoscopy and endoscopy that the Ranitidine(prescription Zantac) I had been taking for GERD was known to cause D. They switched me to Pariet for various reasons and it has been great for me. I was also told by the GI specialist that when you first start taking a new reflux med it could be painful and noticeable at first. Your stomach is used to having the extra acidity to break down the food and you are taking that away. Not sure how much truth there is in that but it seemed to make sense to me.
Hope this helps,
Bethany
