Don't give up that job just yet. If it's something you enjoy, it's a mistake to just toss it for something else you may or may not like.
I'm retired now, having worked for over 40 years. I know about that stress -- nasty stuff! -- and in fact, I quit several jobs that I loved because of it. HUGE mistake. It turned out that the worst stress I endured came AFTER I retired. We bring this stuff on ourselves, sometimes it has nothing whatsoever to do with our work.
I also know about not tolerating much. Once I got my IBS under control, BAM, I got diverticulitis and was prescribed antibiotics, which my tummy would not tolerate. I ended up on the pot, throwing up while pooping at the same time. Not nice.
But wait, it gets worse. Just when I found an antibiotic my tummy would tolerate (there's only one), BAM, I had a heart attack! Now it's all the meds I have to take which my tummy is rejecting.
How long can it last? God only knows. Until. It lasts UNTIL. We can't give up, Nanci. As for fear of being laughed at and not believed, that won't happen in here. Besides, the only one you have to satisfy is YOU.
Consider Michael's hypnotherapy program. It worked wonders for me.
