I just rediscovered a very yummy and safe restaurant tonight. I'd been there before, but had forgotten about it since changing my diet and eliminating so many restaurants. It's called Genghis Grill, and it's a make-your-own stir-fry place. It's SO cool. You go through the line like you would at a salad bar and fill up your little bowl with whatever you want... meats (beef, chicken, ham, pork, shrimp, scallops, crab meat, tofu, and several others), veggies (carrots, potatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, bamboo sprouts, white or green onions, broccoli, green beans, and lots more), etc. Then you top it with any seasonings you might want and choose a sauce (teriyaki, ginger, citrus, bbq, etc.) and squirt the amount you want into a little cup. Then the dude takes your bowl and sauce cup and you tell him what kind of starch you want (various types of rice and noodles) and they cook it for you on this big huge grill thing (kinda like a hibachi, but more like a stone).
I got shrimp, tofu, carrots, zucchini, broccoli, and potatoes with a little salt and teriyaki sauce. I chose the steamed rice. It was SOOO good!!!
My husband got beef, chicken, zucchini, yellow squash, bamboo sprouts, green onions, mushrooms, and I don't remember what else, all cooked in super-spicy sauce. He was wiping the sweat from his brow.
It is so rare to find a really yummy restaurant that we both love. This was great!! I was able to completely choose every single item that went into my meal. How rare is that?! I hadn't been there in over a year and had almost completely forgotten it existed. What a great re-discovery!!! They have several locations scattered around the U.S. If there's one near you, you should definitely check it out!
