My question, in short: is it possible to overload on soluble fiber? I am diarrhea predominant. I just recently hit the 26g (about 3tbsp) of Acacia per day, spread out over about 12 hours in 3 servings, and noticed that the bags of fiber recommend no more than 30g per day. The rest of my diet is heavily based in SF, consisting of white jasmine and arborio rice, sourdough bread, potatoes, yams, and the occassional squash. I've been following Heather's diet guidelines religously for three months now, and I realize that patience is key here, and it may take another half to full year to stabilize.
BUT...I felt like I had a breakthrough about 2 weeks ago when I hit 21g of Acacia. For about 5 days things seemed to be normalizing, and then it fell apart and got worse than before. I haven't changed my diet much at all, and if anything, am eating far more "safely" than before (i.e. more SF, less iffy foods). In response, I gradually upped the Acacia dosage to my current 26g and am still floundering and frustrated!
Can you have too much SF for diarrhea (I'm guessing not based on all that I've read)? Should I reduce the Acacia back to around 21g? Thanks all.
