Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

I am also having three Thanksgiving meals, so I am in the same boat as you. Luckily, mine are spread out throughout the day so this should actually be best for my IBS since I will be "snacking" all day instead of eating a huge meal.

Definitely take your fiber with you. I take my Citrucel pills 3 times a day so I will probably take them before each meal. Since the fiber suppliments are just like eating a potato full of soluble fiber, they're safe to take (if you're taking the recommended dose) several times a day.

As for food - this is going to be a tough problem since you won't know "how" the food was made and what ingredients were put into it. The white turkey will be okay, but anything else you might want to ask how it was made. In order to be nonchalant, maybe take a tiny bite of something that looks safe (or pretend to) and say "Ooh, this is good. What is in these (food)?"

And when all else fails, just explain to people (and mother-in-law) that you have some food intolerances and have to be careful.
