Hey bookyone!

Restaurant veggie dishes can be totally safe, depending on how they're prepared...just don't be afraid to ask about how a dish is prepared (i.e, is there dairy in the sauce, is it spicy, etc.) Some of the easiest places to find good, safe veggie options are Asian restaurants, like Chinese, sushi, or Thai. Pasta is also a good bet, as long as you order a simple dish with no cheese or cream sauce...plus, they usually have a bread basket out for you as soon as you sit down, which provides a perfect SF cushion.

The only "fast food" I ever really get is Mexican, and I've found lots of safe choices at burrito places and taquerias, even when I was vegan...I used to get veggie burritos or tacos (with no cheese or sour cream) or just a side order of beans and rice.

As for meals you prepare at home, the salads and raw fruits can cause a lot of problems, but all your favorite veggies should be fine, as long as you cook them really thoroughly. (I love mushy broccoli, but if it's at all undercooked, I'm in trouble!) Steam up some rice, couscous, pasta, or other SF starch to go with it, and maybe add a bit of tofu or lentils for some protein, and you've got a full meal.

As you experiment with the diet, you'll find out more about what works for you...

Just a few suggestions from a former veggie, and fellow IBSer. Good luck!
