We use it here, mostly because I can get it at the regular grocery and the other available non-dairy, frozen ice-cream-like substances are unknown to me.

Personally, I just prefer not to eat ice cream/-like substances even with pies as 'sweet' isn't my thing. However, one of my kids has been having a lot of trouble with lactose of late (I've been lactose intolerant for over 10 years, IBS not as long) and she has a bit of a sweet tooth.

Rice Dream is pretty thin and, I don't think even close to being creamy like ice cream, but if you can't have the real thing... it works.

read: It's not bad... at all, but ice cream it's not.

I did like their ice cream sandwiches and bars dipped in chocolate with nuts all over them. That was awhile ago, tho!
