Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Use of Alternative Medicine

Heather had an article a couple of weeks ago about using marijuana for IBS sypmtoms and I wanted to weigh in on that. I have been suffering with IBS since my early twenties and had tried a lot of things. The best thing that I have found is this site and Heather's diet - it has changed my world. But I also find that smoking marijuana also helps with the symptoms and the nausea that I have almost daily. I live in a state where medical use is allowed, but still hide it from most people (I don't want folks to think I am a stoner.) I don't use much and despite what you might think, I don't get the munchies and I've lost 25 lbs in the last year. But for me, it does help tremendously and I am grateful that the voters in my state made it legal.

Oh, and for a little background, I am the mother of three (20, 18 & 16) who know that I smoke and why. None of them use drugs so far, but my use does allow us to talk about it and have open discussions about the drug and its uses.

Anyone else out there try this too? Just wondering.
