be careful with charcoal as it will absord nutrients and therefore deprive your body of them if you take it for too long, it is more often used for food poisoning or bad gas bouts, but i wouldn't recommend it on a daily basis.
probiotics, strong digestive enzymes and soluble fiber are the best bets, and fennel for gas of course.
