I don't know about others, but I have started adding them back in. I like the Amy's meals like her chili because there is a serving of rice in with it and corn bread. I also take beano first, I figure what the heck, it can't hurt. Yes, I get gas but it seems like "normal" gas not the hurtful gut twisting kind of gas. I think you just have ot get brave and try. Seems like I need at least 25 g of fiber a day. To get a big bump in fiber I need something like that to get me there, even taking supplements. I'd sure only do it with pasta or rice as a good base and you might just add in a bit at a time. I also started adding back in quick cook veggies. My local supermarket takes their veggies and cuts the leftover produce up, mixes it together and packages it for stirfry. It's nice because there is such a variety. You could take the veggies that you know you tolerate well and cut them up and mix together and store them in a big gallon zip lock bag in the fridge. You can also steam them above your rice if you have a rice cooker with a tray. I personally feel like I am getting a better "nuturition spectrum" that way and I also don't seem to need much if any seasoning with the inherent flavor mixture! It is fantastic. I just toss some of it in a hot pan and stirfry it. I always eat them last after my potato or rice. It seems to be working. I am going every day again now (that is what is "normal" for me. Have always gone mostly everyday.) and I am adding mixed fresh fruit in too. But always after oatmeal or my other soluble fiber.

The best thing about this for me is that it has gotten me back in the kitchen experimenting. Two jobs has had me eating much too conveniently and that has not been good on me, my pocket book or my stress level. It's very pleasing to figure out new foods. My favorite quick meal right now is my turkey sausage (recipe on the recipe board) made into a three oz patty on the George Foreman with a little mustard sread on top, microwaved red potato (1/2 if big, whole if small, I refridgerate the unused half and have it the next day - you can do this for quick grabs too.) and the stir fried mixed fresh veggies.
