I need advice please!

Please bear with me here ... this post may have a little too much info for some but I need advice. I had a colonoscopy which I guess was normal because the doctor never called with any results. She did however find a large hemorrhoid that grew to the point it was external too. I'm sure I am not the only person that has gotten hemorrhoids from IBS. Anyhow, the surgeon decided to take it off because it was causing bleeding etc. The day of the procedure she looked again and decided that it was "not quite right" and decided not to do the simple band removal but to remove it surgically (under local anesthetic) so it could be sent to the pathology lab.

My IBS is almost always "D" ... until now. Yes I am on narcotic painkillers since the procedure, but this is not the first time using Tylenol #3 (Tylenol with Codeine). It has never given me "C" or anything close to it. On top of the painkillers, she also gave me Lactulose and Colace to soften the stools because there are stitches etc there. I also take Metamucil tabs on a regular basis.

HELP!! My stools are now very formed ... I would not use the term constipated, but certainly not the "D" or close to "D" that I am used to. They hurt like nothing I have experienced. I also have a lot of gas which is unusual too. I don't get it at all. The codeine has never constipated me or made my stools any different and I have used it a number of times in the past. And with the addition of the stool softeners that I am taking I am baffled. I am eating the same and drinking water etc. nothing has changed that way.

If anyone has any advice I would be grateful. I thought that the "D" was bad but this is worse.
