Hi Christina,

So glad you found this board- it seriously changed my life. Dealing with a diagnosis of IBS can be challenging. We are all here to help!

I don't have any experience with Zelnorm because I am IBS-A mostly D.

I have tried different types of fiber but I have found the easiest to be citrucel caplets because I can carry them with me in my purse. I started slowly by taking 2 in the morning for a week and half to two weeks, and then adding 1 later in the day for a week, then add one to dinner time for a couple of weeks, eventually I ended up at 7-8 a day taken spread out during the day and always before meals. Before trying any type of SFS be sure to have patience and don't take too much too soon or it will make things worse, just start gradually.

As far as incorporating insoluble fiber I liked this a lot:

I bought organic low fat tortillas from whole foods or wild oats and made white rice and chicken breast. I bought Tyson's Teriyaki Chicken Breast from the regular grocery store and cooked and cut up one piece and put the rice and chicken in the tortilla. You can heat the tortilla in the microwave too, it's good. Just a quick easy idea. You can also try buying soy yogurt and have a couple of spoonfulls of that after a meal of soluble fiber and that helps you get used to it also. Just a few ideas- hope it helps!
