When I went to my specialist this is what he did:

1. Took all my history, had a chat, did a tummy exam (hands, stethoscope on tummy)
2. Referred me for a colonscopy (camera through the rectum) and and
3. Gastroscopy (camera down the throat) and
4. Pelvic scan (to check for ovarian problems etc)

The worst thing about it all was the colonoscopy preparation- you have to empty your bowels the day before by drinking horrible stuff and spending the day on the loo.

Don't worry, it's much better to have a correct diagnosis and work on it than not to know or to treat it wrong.
