I'd go for a number of reasons:

- As Snorkie says, you really need to know for sure if this is IBS so do the tests and then you know once and for all.
- Also, if you feel better since eliminating grains from your diet, I really think you need to be tested for celiac - this is nothing to mess around with (as we all know from this week's episode of "House").
- A specialist can help with prescription meds like anti-spasmodics if you need them.
- Once you're a specialist's patient it should be relatively easy for you to get back in to see him again if you need him in a hurry. If you're a new patient when you need help fast, you will probably have to wait longer.
